"নীরব ভালোবাসা" --- A Silent Love Story"

এটা একটা বাংলাদেশের কোন এক মধ্যবিত্ত পরিবারের একটি ছেলে ও একটি মেয়ের নীরব প্রেমের গল্প। মেয়ের পরিবার চিরাচরিত নিয়মে ছেলেটাকে গ্রহন করতে অস্বীকৃতি জানায়। স্বাভাবিকভাবেই মেয়ের পরিবার মেয়েটাকে বুঝানোর চেষ্টা করে যে ছেলেটার খুব একটা ব্রাইট ফিউচার নেই, তার সাথে স

ম্পর্ক রাখাটা বোকামি ছাড়া আর কিছু না।

পরিবারের চাপে পড়ে একদিন মেয়েটা ছেলেটাকে বলে, "আমার প্রতি তোমার ভালোবাসা কতটা গভীর? তুমি একটা কিছু অন্তত করো। তাছাড়া আমাদের সম্পর্ক কেউ মেনে নিবে না।" ছেলেটা কোন উত্তর খুঁজে পায় না। সে চুপ করে থাকে। মেয়েটা রাগ হয়ে চলে যায়। তারপরেও স্বপ্নবিলাসী ছেলেটা তাদের ভবিষ্যতের স্বপ্ন দেখে, কিছুটা অন্জন'দা এর গানের মতো, "সাদা-কালো এই জন্জালে ভরা মিথ্যে কথার শহরে, তোমার-আমার লাল-নীল সংসার।"

মেয়েটা ছেলের দৃঢ়-সংকল্প দেখে রাজি হয়। ছেলেটা মেয়ের পরিবারকে অনেক বুঝিয়ে রাজি করে ফেলে। তারপর তাদের এনগেজমেন্ট হয়ে যায় এবং সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয় যে ছেলে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়ে দেশে ফিরলে তারপর তাদের বিয়ে হবে। এরপর ছেলেটা চলে যায় দেশের বাইরে।

মেয়েটা একটা অফিসে জব করা শুরু করে দেয়। এদিকে ছেলেটাও তার রিসার্চ-ওয়ার্ক নিয়ে দেশের বাইরে ব্যস্ত। তারপরেও তারা শত ব্যস্ততার মাঝেও ফোন আর ই-মেইলের মাধ্যমে তাদের ভালোবাসার অনুভূতি যতটা সম্ভব আদান-প্রদান করে।

একদিন মেয়েটা অফিসে যাওয়ার পথে রোড-অ্যাক্সিডেন্ট করে। সেন্স ফিরে সে দেখতে পায় যে সে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি এবং বুঝতে পারে যে সে মারাত্মকভাবে আহত। তার বাবা-মাকে বিছানার পাশে দেখতে পায় সে। তার মা কান্না করতেছে তা বুঝতে পেরে যখন মেয়েটা কথা বলতে যায় তখন সে বুঝতে পারে যে তার বাকশক্তি লোপ পেয়েছে। ডাক্তারের ভাষ্যমতে মেয়েটা তার ব্রেনে আঘাত পাওয়ায় আজীবনের মতো বোবা হয়ে গেছে।

একসময় মেয়েটা খানিকটা সুস্থ হয়ে বাসায় চলে আসে। এদিকে ছেলেটা তাকে বার বার ফোন করতে থাকে কিন্তু মেয়েটা বোবা বলে তার করার কিছুই থাকে না। মেয়েটা একদিন একটা সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়ে ফেলে। সে তার কথোপোকথন-হীন এই জীবনের সাথে ছেলেটাকে আর জড়াতে চায় না। 
তার ফলশ্রুতিতে সে একদিন একটা মিথ্যা চিঠিতে লেখে যে সে আর ছেলেটার জন্য অপেক্ষা করতে পারবে না। তারপর মেয়েটা চিঠির সাথে তার এনজেজমেন্ট রিং ছেলেটার ঠিকানায় পাঠিয়ে দেয়। ছেলেটা মেয়েটাকে হাজার-হাজার ই-মেইল করে কিন্তু তার কোন রিপ্লাই সে পায় না। ছেলেটা শত-শত বার ফোন করে কিন্তু মেয়েটার ফোন রিসিভ না করে নীরবে কান্না করা ছাড়া আর কোন উপায় থাকে না।

একদিন মেয়েটার পরিবার বাসা বদল করে অন্য কোন এলাকায় নতুন কোন একটা পরিবেশে যাওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নেয় যাতে করে মেয়েটা কিছুটা হলেও এই দুঃস্মৃতী ভূলে যায় এবং সুখে থাকে। 

নতুন পরিবেশে মেয়েটা "সাইন-ল্যাংগুয়েজ" শেখে এবং নতুন জীবন শুরু করে। বছর দুয়েক পর একদিন মেয়েটার এক বান্ধবী এখানে চলে আসে এবং মেয়েটাকে বলে যে ছেলেটা দেশে ব্যাক করেছে। মেয়েটা তার বান্ধবীকে রিকুয়েস্ট করে যাতে ছেলেটা কোনভাবেই যেন তার এই অবস্থার কথা জানতে না পারে। তারপর কয়েকদিন পর মেয়েটার বান্ধবী চলে যায়। 

আরো এক বছর পর আবার একদিন মেয়েটার বান্ধবী মেয়েটার কাছে একটা ইনভাইটেশন কার্ড নিয়ে চলে আসে। মেয়েটা কার্ড খুলে দেখতে পায় যে এটা ছেলেটার বিয়ের ইনভাইটেশন কার্ড। মেয়েটা অবাক হয়ে যায় যখন পাত্রীর জায়গায় তার নিজের নাম দেখতে পায়। মেয়েটা যখন তার বান্ধবীর কাছে এ সম্পর্কে কিছু জানতে চাইবে তখন সে দেখতে পায় যে ছেলেটা তার সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে। ছেলেটা তখন "সাইন ল্যাংগুয়েজ" ব্যবহার করে মেয়েটাকে বলে, "আমি একটি বছর সময় সাইন ভাষা শিখতে অতিবাহিত করেছি. শুধু আপনি কি জানেন যে আমি আমাদের প্রতিশ্রুতি বিস্মৃত না করে থাকেন যাক. আমাকে তোমার কন্ঠ হতে সুযোগ আছে. আমি তোমায় ভালোবাসি." এই বলে ছেলেটা আবার সেই এনগেজমেন্ট রিং মেয়েটাকে পড়িয়ে দেয়। কয়েক বছর পর মেয়েটা আবার হেসে উঠে। এ যেন এক নীরব ভালোবাসার নীরব হাসি।
